Tropical Coral Reefs

In the greatest oceans, life can be difficult to find. However, surprisingly species-rich ecosystems have clustered in some areas. Tropical coral reefs can be regarded as among the finest of these, outdoing the rainforests in their number of species. The underwater reefs of north-east Indonesia, a meeting place for the species and waters of the Indian and Pacific Oceans, are home to the world's greatest measured biodiversity.

Jukka Nurminen, Abyss Art's CEO and underwater photographer, developed his underwater photography skills on holiday with his father and family during the 1990s. His father, Juha, took up photography in the 1980s and passed on the secrets of underwater photography to Jukka, who began taking pictures on the coral reefs of the tropical seas.
